WhereNext Group Appoints Christina Tunnah as Strategic Advisor, Strengthening Its Position as a Leading Luxury DMC in Latin America
A global marketing leader with a love for the Spanish-speaking world, Tunnah brings a perspective that travel should be felt, not just planned.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SEATTLE, WA — May 1, 2026 — WhereNext Group, a Latin American luxury destination management company (DMC) based in Seattle, WA, with regional headquarters incorporated in Colombia and Peru, today announced the appointment of Christina Tunnah as Strategic Advisor.
This appointment comes as Latin America emerges as one of the fastest-growing regions for high-end, experience-driven travel, while the global DMC sector undergoes a shift toward more personalized, technology-enabled, and story-led journeys.
Tunnah joins following the recent addition of Nicolás Gill, further strengthening a network of voices aligned around a shared idea: that the next generation of travel will be defined by making guests #FeelSomething.
She currently serves as Head of World Nomads Americas and Head of Global Marketing & Brands, where she has spent more than a decade helping scale the insurance business and redefining how marketing drives measurable growth. But her perspective on travel extends beyond performance metrics.
A Premium DMC Shifting Away from Transactional
As the role of destination management companies evolves, Tunnah sees a clear shift underway:
“The traditional role of DMCs is providing transactional commodity services and logistics. The modern luxury traveler increasingly seeks itineraries and experiences that are human-to-human, place-based, and that provide opportunities to create once-in-a-lifetime memories. WhereNext Travel imbues story-driven travel by crafting journeys for guests where they experience their own narratives and transformation, not checklists.”
A Focus on Technology Integration
As expectations around personalization deepen, technology becomes a key enabler of more meaningful travel, Tunnah says:
“DMCs will need the right technology and platforms that support relevant data, preferences, and behavioral insights, not just tracking bookings, availability, rates, and invoicing. WhereNext Travel selectively adopted back-end technology systems that free their local teams to focus on client-centric, high-touch servicing that delivers human-designed customized trips tailored to niche interests, pace, and emotional engagement.”
Insurance as an Enabler of Experience
Tunnah also brings a perspective often overlooked in experiential travel: the role of risk.
“Insurance can play a surprisingly central role because the biggest barrier to ‘go bigger’ travel isn’t usually desire, it’s risk. WhereNext Travel is about the emotion, awe, and transformation of amazing lifetime travel experiences; insurance is what makes those experiences feel possible by giving travelers the psychological permission to take the leap. For DMCs, when risk is properly managed, product teams can innovate more freely, and that ultimately is a differentiator.”
Deep Roots in Latin America
When asked what uniquely positions WhereNext in Latin America, Tunnah pointed to something less replicable than scale:
“National offices and close relationships with suppliers, guides, cultural insiders, and boutique properties that larger global DMCs often can’t replicate. These connections allow for exclusive access to local experiences and hidden places that the luxury traveler wouldn’t find on their own. This not only creates richer experiences but also supports local economies and regenerative tourism practices, an increasingly important value for today’s sophisticated travelers and industry visionaries.”
Her connection to the region is not just business; it’s personal.
“My mother is from Spain. My first words and early memories come from living in the Caribbean and spending a lot of time in Spain with family in Madrid. I couldn’t fathom a life without speaking Spanish with family, friends, and business associates.”
A Strategic and Personal Partnership
For WhereNext Group founder Gregg Bleakney, the appointment reflects both long-standing respect and future ambition:
“I’ve known Christina for over a decade and have long admired her marketing and communications style and her ability to articulate and execute a strategy in the travel community.
We’ve worked together in a marketing capacity across multiple countries, and I’m looking forward to building this brand with her as we grow our vision.”
As WhereNext Group continues to expand its AI-powered platform and global DMC network, Tunnah will advise on insurance strategy, technology integration, and brand positioning, helping translate storytelling into measurable growth and long-term value.
Her role reflects where the company and the industry are heading:
Travel is no longer just about where you go.
It’s about what it makes you feel and what stays with you after you return.
