Hotel B Lima: Why We Use This Barranco Boutique Hotel for Luxury Peru Itineraries
Hotel B is where I stay when I’m in Lima.
Not too big. Not too polished. Just the right size to still feel human.
Hotel B is set in a restored Belle Époque mansion in Barranco, originally built in 1914 as a summer home for a wealthy Limeño family. After a major restoration, it reopened as a luxury boutique hotel in 2013 and is now Lima’s only Relais & Châteaux property. Hotel B feels less like a hotel and more like the private home of someone deeply obsessed with art, photography, literature, and design.
Step outside the front door and you’re immediately inside Barranco, Lima’s creative heartbeat. Old mansions covered in street art. Small galleries. Coffee shops filled with photographers, designers, and surfers still from their morning sessions in the Pacific.
This is one of the properties we regularly recommend for travelers beginning or ending a luxury journey through Peru.
Not simply because it’s beautiful.
Because it’s located in the heart of one of the most interesting neighborhoods in the city.
Why We Recommend Hotel B in Lima
At WhereNext Travel, we spend a lot of time thinking about how a journey feels, not just connecting itinerary line items.
Hotel B works because it creates a sense of arrival.
For travelers visiting Peru, Lima is often treated as a stopover before Cusco or Machu Picchu. But Lima deserves more than that. And Barranco, especially, rewards travelers who carve out some time to experience it properly.
We often recommend Hotel B for travelers looking for:
A boutique luxury hotel in Lima with personality
Walkable access to Barranco’s galleries, cafés, and restaurants
A quieter, more intimate alternative to larger luxury hotels
Design-driven hospitality with strong cultural character
A stay that feels local rather than internationally generic
The property pairs exceptionally well with journeys through the Sacred Valley, the Peruvian Amazon, or longer multi-country itineraries across Latin America.
The hotel has three main room categories:
Atelier — Premium Suite
36–42 square meters. These are the top category, with private terrace or foyer, seating area, open-format bathrooms, twin vanities, separate rain shower, and, in some rooms, standalone bathtubs.
Aposento — Junior Suite
22–36 square meters. Located in both the historic mansion and contemporary wing, with a seating area, walk-in bathrooms, a separate rain shower, and a WC. Some include standalone bathtubs.
Alcoba — Standard Room
19–22 square meters. Queen beds, desk, seating for one, walk-in bathroom, separate rain shower, and WC.
All rooms include Wi-Fi, minibar, local calls, HD TV, and an iPod docking station. Check-in is from 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 12:00 PM. The hotel is 100% smoke-free.
Why We Love Barranco
Barranco is our favorite neighborhood in Lima for travelers seeking culture, food, design, and atmosphere.
Compared to the larger commercial feel of Miraflores, Barranco feels, well, cooler. It’s the kind of neighborhood where you discover hidden wine bars, independent galleries, tiny cafés, and old mansions transformed into restaurants.
You can spend the morning walking the malecón above the Pacific, disappear into an art gallery in the afternoon, and finish the evening with one of the best meals in South America.
For many of our travelers, Barranco becomes the unexpected highlight of Lima.
And Hotel B sits right in the middle of it.

Insider Notes
Luxury hotels are easy to find. Places with atmosphere are harder. Hotel B has a vibe. Some of my favorite moments at Hotel B are:
Morning coffee on the rooftop terrace while Barranco slowly wakes up below.
Late afternoon light filtering through the historic bar after a walk along the Pacific.
A relaxed dinner downstairs after a long international arrival day, when your body still isn’t entirely sure what country it’s in.
Laughing with friends while participating in the hotel’s in-house pisco sour cocktail class.
