Hotel B Lima: Why We Use This Barranco Boutique Hotel for Luxury Peru Itineraries
When I’m in Lima, I usually stay at Hotel B.
Not because it is the biggest or flashiest hotel in the city. It is neither. I stay there because it gets the balance right: 20 rooms, real character, strong service, excellent food and drink, and one of the best locations in Lima for travelers who want to step out the front door and feel the city instead of just pass through it.
Hotel B is set in a restored Belle Époque mansion in Barranco, originally built in 1914 as a summer home for a wealthy Limeño family. After a major restoration, it reopened as a luxury boutique hotel in 2013 and is now Lima’s only Relais & Châteaux property.
Why Hotel B Works for High-End DMC Guests
Hotel B is best for guests who want a boutique, art-driven Lima stay rather than a large international hotel experience. The hotel sits in Barranco, Lima’s most creative neighborhood, with galleries, restaurants, cafés, historic buildings, the Pacific Coast and the malecón all close by. The hotel provides guests with a hand-painted neighborhood map to help them explore.
The hotel has three main room categories:
Atelier — Premium Suite
36–42 square meters. These are the top category, with private terrace or foyer, seating area, open-format bathrooms, twin vanities, separate rain shower and, in some rooms, standalone bathtubs.
Aposento — Junior Suite
22–36 square meters. Located in both the historic mansion and contemporary wing, with seating area, walk-in bathrooms, separate rain shower and WC. Some include standalone bathtubs.
Alcoba — Standard Room
19–22 square meters. Queen beds, desk, seating for one, walk-in bathroom, separate rain shower and WC.
All rooms include Wi-Fi, minibar, local calls, HD TV and iPod docking station. Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 12:00 PM. The hotel is 100% smoke-free.
Food, Art, and the Barranco Advantage
Hotel B has a dining room focused on local and seasonal Peruvian ingredients, a bar popular with locals and travelers, a patio between the historic and contemporary wings, a library where breakfast and afternoon tea are served, and a rooftop terrace. Afternoon tea, called “lonche,” is included for guests.
For guest experience planning, the property also offers useful in-house experiences: cocktail classes, cooking classes, full culinary experiences, Peruvian chocolate and coffee experiences, art tours, surf classes, bike and yoga, massage service, and city tours including Barranco, Pachacamac, Islas Palomino, Huaca Pucllana, Casa Aliaga, Museo Larco and colonial Lima.
WhereNext Travel Take
Hotel B is a good fit for couples, design-focused travelers, art collectors, food lovers, luxury travel advisors looking for a boutique Lima base, and travelers who prefer Barranco over Miraflores or San Isidro.
It may not be the best fit for clients who want a large pool, big-brand predictability, resort-style amenities or a more corporate hotel environment.
For me, Hotel B works because it feels human. Not too big. Not too small. A short walk to the malecón. Barranco outside the front door. Art in the rooms and common areas. A sense that the owners actually care.
That is the kind of hotel I look for at WhereNext Travel, a premium DMC in Peru designing luxury journeys that connect travelers to place, culture and story, not just logistics.
