Hotel B is where I like to stay when I am in Lima.
Part of that is the scale. It is intimate without feeling too small, polished without feeling standardized. But the bigger reason is Barranco.
Walk out the front door, and you are already in the part of Lima I most enjoy spending time in. Restaurants, cafés, galleries, and the malecón above the Pacific are close enough to reach on foot. Mérito, one of the restaurants I return to in Barranco, is nearby.
In a city where traffic can consume a surprising amount of the day, staying somewhere this walkable reduces time in vehicles and gives you more of Lima on foot.

A Hotel With a Point of View
Hotel B occupies a restored historic mansion, but what makes it memorable to me is not the architecture alone.
It is the personality inside it.
Art fills the walls. Rooms vary in decoration and character. The bar is small and intimate, right down to details like the unusual cocktail glassware.
I have inspected and stayed at Hotel B twice over the last year, and one of the things I noticed is how different the rooms can feel from one another. Different art. Different layouts. Different personalities.
You could stay here several times and not feel as though you had returned to exactly the same room.
Some rooms can also be combined around a shared common area, creating a useful private space within the hotel for a family or small group.
Why We Choose Barranco
There are excellent luxury hotels elsewhere in Lima, particularly in Miraflores.
We choose Hotel B when the traveler wants something more independent and wants Barranco itself to be part of the stay.
The neighborhood is more art-forward and less commercially polished than the parts of Miraflores where many larger hotels are concentrated. From Hotel B, restaurants, cafés, galleries, and the malecón are close enough to explore without getting back into a vehicle.
That improves the flow of a Lima stay.
Less time in traffic. More time in the neighborhood.
The Right Size
Hotel B sits in a middle ground I like.
It is large enough to have a proper restaurant, rooftop, bar, and service infrastructure, but small enough that breakfast still feels intimate and the public spaces retain personality.
At the end of the day, I like slipping into the bar for a cocktail or spending time on the rooftop.
Enough is happening inside the hotel that returning after dinner does not feel like disappearing into a room, but it never feels anonymous.
That balance is one of the reasons I choose it.
Room Selection Is Part of the Experience
Because Hotel B is not standardized, room selection deserves attention.
The rooms vary in size, location, art, and atmosphere. My own stays have been in upstairs rooms, and those experiences have been comfortable and enjoyable.
For us, that variation is not something to eliminate.
It is something to understand when matching the room to the traveler.
Families and small groups also have the option of combining certain rooms around a shared common area, creating their own smaller space within the hotel.
Who We Choose It For
We like Hotel B for travelers who prefer independent hotels with character, care about art and design, and want to walk out into one of Lima’s most interesting neighborhoods.
It works especially well for couples and for families or small groups who appreciate a more intimate property without giving up the service and facilities of a full hotel.

But the reason I continue to choose it for myself is simpler.
Hotel B does not feel like a concept that could be reproduced in another city with a different address.
The art, the mansion, the different rooms, the small bar, the rooftop, and Barranco outside the door all belong together.
