About the Founders

WhereNext Travel was born from the personal journeys of its founders, Angelika Köhler and Gregg Bleakney.

Angelika left Germany to immerse herself in Latin America, planning to stay for a year, but ultimately made Colombia her home. She embraced her new culture, became an elite salsa dancer, and built a family.

Gregg transitioned from a professional track and field athlete to a software executive and then embarked on an 18,500-mile solo bicycle journey across the Americas.

Both experienced life-changing moments during their travels, and neither returned "home" afterward. Their individual experiences led them to one common truth: the best journeys open guests to feel something that leads to transformational opportunities. This belief is the foundation of WhereNext Travel.

Through meticulous planning, seamless execution, and deep-rooted expertise, Angelika and Gregg's mission is to ensure that every journey has the power to change lives—just as it did for them.

What We Believe

We believe that without a solid economic framework for local communities, practices like sustainable and regenerative tourism remain little more than well-intentioned ideals. When local residents don’t share in the financial benefits of tourism, investing in environmental protection or reducing resource consumption becomes nearly impossible.

That’s why we view every local stakeholder—whether an independent guide, a family-run restaurant, or a boutique hotel—as a business owner who must derive revenue and meaningful profit from working with WhereNext Travel. An aspiring birdwatching guide living in a formerly guerilla-controlled region in Colombia (post-peace-deal) must find greater opportunities working in tourism than in illicit economies. Without this economic foundation, sustainable and regenerative tourism are philosophies, not actions.
